The Shadow Librarian

The Shadow Librarian — or, if you prefer, Edgar “Ed” Graves to those foolish enough to call him by his first name.
A peculiar old eccentric, halfway between a washed‑up demon hunter and a forgotten late‑night TV host.

Who is he, really? No one knows for sure.
Some say he was once an ordinary bookseller who opened the wrong book at the wrong moment.
Others whisper that he died long ago… and that the books he guards dragged him back so he could keep telling their stories.

He sits enthroned in an endless library, surrounded by shelves that creak on their own.
His cracked leather armchair looks like a throne stolen from an undertaker.
Behind him, an old 16 mm projector sputters, casting images that never existed.

He wears a frayed tuxedo jacket, a shirt stained with ink and dried blood, and round glasses that barely hide his mischievous eyes.
A predatory grin sometimes reveals teeth that are just a little too sharp.

He never tells a story without a sarcastic remark or a rasping laugh:
“Careful, dear reader… this one might cost you more than a sleepless night.
Assuming you manage to sleep afterward, of course.”

The Shadow Librarian — or Edgar “Ed” Graves, for those bold enough to use his name — lingers somewhere between the forbidden shelves.

And as long as there remains a book no one dares to open…
he will keep whispering his Tales of Terror.

In this collection:
A Sporting Chance
Fate at the Wheel
Fangs of the Werewolf
